NY Yankees pitcher Arnoldis Chapman was sidelined for nearly one month because of left knee tendinitis. During that time the team doctors decided that administering a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection into his knee was the best treatment, hoping that he could to return to pitching before the season ends. On August 22nd pitching against the Miami Marlins he had to be removed from the game because of his knee pain. There were serious doubts at that time as to whether there was enough time for him to heal and return to pitching before the end of the season. Just two days shy of a month, on September 20th, he was back in action against the Boston Red Sox.
While he was out he received two PRP injections into his knee and he responded very well to the treatment. Chapman says, “I’m happy to see that I’ve gotten the strength back in that knee… the knee feels great…the rehab work that I’ve done has helped me a lot. It’s about going in there and battling right now and getting the job done.”
