Taken orally phosphatidyl choline cannot be effectively delivered to cellular membranes throughout the body. What happens after oral ingestion is that phosphatidyl choline circulates to the liver, and while helpful for the liver, it cannot do for the rest of the body what an IV can do, delivering 100% of the biologically active phosphatidyl choline throughout the body.


This depends on the level of need of the patient regarding either the amount toxic burden their body may be carrying, or in other cases the degree of dysfunction of their neurologic or systems being treated. To be effective, a minimum of 10 treatments is advised and often more. It is done once or twice per week, and the initial dose of 500mg will most often be increased as tolerated by the patient to 1,000mg or more. Diarrhea is a common side effect with higher doses at the beginning, and so the patients’ dose is slowly increased as tolerated. After the initial treatment period of 2 months, patients will often have maintenance doses spread out to between every 2 to 4 weeks.
